Koreans are taught to take care of their faces from a young age. It is a custom among them that is passed down from parents to children.
We quickly understand why Koreans have this porcelain complexion. Taking care of your skin as early as possible delays its aging.
The Korean layering technique consists of applying several layers of care one after the other on a daily basis.
It is important to find the right care for your skin type.
Without further ado, here are the steps of layering!
Step 1: Makeup removal (evening)
This step is the most important. Even when you are at home all day and you are not wearing makeup, do not neglect this step.
Removing makeup removes makeup, but also eliminates impurities accumulated during the day (pollution, dust, excess sebum).
Step 2: Cleansing (morning and evening)
Removing makeup does not necessarily deeply cleanse the skin. Well-cleansed skin leaves no greasy film.
You should feel like your skin is cleansed and can breathe again.
Step 3: The Tonic (morning and evening)
Do not confuse toner with lotion/emulsion. We will explain this in a future article.
The application of the tonic completes the make-up removal and cleansing. It helps to eliminate the last impurities and hard tap water.
When the skin is moist, it absorbs care more easily.
Thanks to the tonic, the skin is finally ready to receive the following treatments.
Step 4: Serum, Essence or Ampoule (morning and evening)
The skin is finally ready to receive hydration!
The essence can be applied before the serum and ampoule.
Essence is a very hydrating product that feels like water and restores radiance to the skin.
The serum is a concentrate of active ingredients that deeply nourish the skin.
The ampoule looks like the serum, but is twice as rich in active ingredients.
Step 5: Emulsion or Lotion (morning and evening)
For all treatments to penetrate your skin well, you need to use emulsions. A mixture of aqueous and oily phases. The aqueous phase is composed of water and the oily phase is composed of vegetable oil.
Step 6: The Cream (morning and evening)
The cream helps to moisturize the skin and acts as a protective film for all previously applied treatments.
Step 7: Eye Contour Cream (morning and evening)
Have you ever had tight, dry eye contours?
It is the thinnest part of the face, which is why there are special treatments for the eye area.
Generally, around the age of 25, it is recommended to start using an eye contour treatment to reduce wrinkles as early as possible.
Step 8: Sun Protection (morning)
In both winter and summer, Koreans protect their skin from the harmful effects of UV rays. Sun protection is essential to preserve the skin's radiance and youthfulness and slow down its aging.
SPF 50 protection is always recommended.
You will often see Korean products offering sun protection in a BB cream, in cushions etc…
Step 9: Lip Balm (morning and evening)
Well yes! Lips also need to be protected all day and evening.
In the evening, a lip balm is sufficient, but in the morning, it is better to apply an anti-UV lip balm.
There you have it! You know everything about the Korean layering technique! Now it's your turn to play!
